Doc. RNDr. Jan Feranec, DrSc. awarded the SAS gold medal

Doc. RNDr. Ján Feranec, DrSc., the leading research scientist of the Institute of Geography SAS, took over the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, prof. Pavel Šajgalík, the highest award of the Academy – Gold Medal of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

Ján Feranec is a top scientist and an internationally recognized expert in the field of geography and remote sensing of the Earth. The international response to his extensive publishing activities is proof that he has made a significant contribution to the development of geographical research on a global scale. The awarding of the Gold Medal of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is thus a suitable award for
his life’s work on the occasion of a significant jubilee.
