A new monograph on transport accessibility and tourism in Polish-Slovak borderland has been published

The scientific monograph has been published in the framework of the Polish-Slovak project titled Infrastructural and organizational possibilities of spatial accessibility improvement as a factor for the development of the Polish-Slovak tourist regions (INFRAREGTUR) and summarizes the results of scientific analysis within the project. Project No. WTSL.02.01.00-14-087/08 was co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget within the Cross-Border cooperation Programme Poland – Slovak Republic 2007-2013. The authors of the monograph are workers of the project partners (Institute of Geography and Spatial Organisation, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw and the Institute of Geography, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava).
The main scientific objective of the project and also the monograph has been to show the possibility of using tourism potential of the Polish-Slovak borderland by spatial accessibility improvement. Individual chapter focuses on conditions for the development of the Polish-Slovak borderland, selected problems of transport development and tourism development and the perception of the existing situation and need of changes of tourism and accessibility in the borderland. The focus of the publication is a chapter devoted to the transport accessibility of the Polish-Slovak borderland, which presents the results of external and internal accessibility analyses of the Polish-Slovak borderland using road transport as well as analysis of rail and air accessibility of the Polish-Slovak borderland.
